Title: Member Discussion: Empowering an Aging Nation: Strategic Framework for a National Plan on Aging
Event Date: September 9, 2024 2-3 PM ET
As the demographic landscape of the United States undergoes a historic transformation, with over 55 million Americans aged 65 and older, it is imperative to address the opportunities and challenges that come with an aging population. By 2040, the number of individuals aged 85 and older will more than double, highlighting the urgent need for thoughtful and intentional planning. Older adults contribute significantly to society through their work, volunteerism, and caregiving, yet the demand for support far exceeds current resources. “Aging in the United States: A Strategic Framework for a National Plan on Aging” is a visionary document released by the Interagency Coordinating Committee on Healthy Aging and Age-Friendly Communities (ICC) designed to raise awareness of key aging issues and to inform national recommendations for promoting healthy aging and creating Age-Friendly communities. Led by the Administration for Community Living(ACL), the Strategic Framework builds upon four domains: Age-Friendly communities, coordinated housing and supportive services, increased access to long-term services and supports, and aligned health care and supportive services. Released on May 30, 2024, the ICC is seeking feedback by September 15, 2024.
Join LTQA and speakers from the ACL and West Health on September 9 for a member-only LTQA discussion to develop feedback on the Strategic Framework for a National Plan on Aging that will shape the future of aging in America.
