On September 20, IHI published a blog post by LTQA and Anne Tumlinson Innovations regarding new expanded flexibility in Medicare Advantage Supplemental Benefits.  The blog discusses how new flexibility creates an opportunity for insurers and providers to work together to improve care for Medicare beneficiaries, and highlights our recent guiding principles for Special Supplemental Benefits for Chronically Ill Beneficiaries (SSBCI).  

The new supplemental benefits will require an unprecedented degree of collaboration among all stakeholders, and the inclusion of SSBCI in plan benefit packages will encourage new types of relationships between providers and MA plans.
