LTQA partnered with Brandeis University’s Community Living Policy Center on a study examining excess mortality among Medicaid home-and community-based services (HCBS) recipients during the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on data across twelve states shared by several members of the National MLTSS Health Plan Association during 2020, researchers found that younger Medicaid HCBS recipients faced high excess mortality rates compared to other community-dwelling Medicaid beneficiaries and those in the general population.
