Title: Part 1 – Advancing Non-Medical Supplemental Benefits in Medicare Advantage
Date: December 2020
Long-Term Quality Alliance (LTQA), in collaboration with ATI Advisory and with support from the SCAN Foundation, hosted a webinar on key findings from our research, data analysis, and interviews with Medicare Advantage (MA) plans and providers as presented in the recently released Roadmap and Policy Brief.
The introduction of Special Supplemental Benefits for the Chronically Ill (SSBCI) and the expanded definition of “primarily health-related” supplemental benefits (PHRB) has given Medicare Advantage (MA) plans increased flexibility in 2020 to offer non-medical supplemental benefits, and to target them to members with chronic conditions. This webinar explored opportunities and roadblocks that exist for MA plans and providers as offerings of non-medical supplemental benefits increase in light of these changes, MA plan considerations for the 2021 bid process, and short- and long-term policy opportunities to advance the availability of non-medical supplemental benefits to Medicare beneficiaries.
